Lab Philosophy

AS a group leader, I aim to guide young scientists to become independent thinkers and experts in cell biology and molecular biology techniques, as well as to master organization skills to efficiently work in the lab setting.

Every person, students, postdoc or technicians, joining the laboratory will be asked to acknowledge certain lines of conduct:

Be transparent: no one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes. If that happens, the best way you can deal with it is to be transparent and honest and report it so that results will be interpreted accordingly. We need to work in an atmosphere where we can trust and support each other.

Be independent: my goal is that everyone in the lab can “fly with their own wings”. After a supervised learning phase, you will be expected to be proactive and take responsibility for your research project. Project designing and sculpting will be done together, but you are expected to be the driving force for the advancement of the research.

Be a team player: although the lab members do not have to be your friends, and are definitely not your family, they are your teammates and each lab member is expected to treat others the way they want to be treated.

Those lines of conduct are designed to create a positive atmosphere in the lab, to nurture creativity and support enthusiasm and motivation for biomedical research.
